CHICAGO – FEBRUARY 2016
Its not every day Ryan and I can get away on a trip of our own but we managed to get to Chicago for a quick weekend trip. Luckily we caught a weekend when the weather was fantastic! We stayed downtown and enjoyed walking among the tall buildings and people watching at Millennium Park and Grant Park. I was only able to capture a few pictures from the trip. Enjoy!
ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO
MILLENIUM PARK
What a beautiful scene of the cars hustling by on Michigan Avenue and the ice skaters enjoying their moment.
CLOUD GATE SCULPTURE
The Cloud Gate sculpture is located in Millennium Park. It is made out of stainless steel plates and is a piece of art that you do not want to miss. It is almost like a large mirror and it gives off a somewhat stretched reflection. It is very funny to watch everyone take their selfies and group pictures with sculpture.
No trip to Chicago is complete without a picture of the Chicago sign on the Chicago theater. Its kind of blurry (iphone pic) but I had to take one while walking along.
TRIP TIPS
- Accommodations: We stayed at The Wit hotel in downtown. A very contemporary hotel with a great rooftop bar and restaurant. Everything is hip at this hotel and it offers a great vibe.
- Transportation: Taxi, subways, or Uber. To get a little taste of the city we took the subway from O’Hare Airport to downtown when we arrived. $20 buys you a 24 hour pass. Downtown Chicago is a very walkable city. We opted for a taxi in getting back to the airport.
- Cuisine: When in Chicago you have to have the pizza right? We opted for Giordano’s and couldn’t of been happier. A great story with true Italian influences. One of the best meals I have ever had was at C Chicago. You cannot go wrong with the Prix Fixe Dinner. The amount of food and drinks they offer is well worth the $80.00 price.
