CALA LUNA, SURFING, & SOUTH BEACH
THANKSGIVING 2016 Part II
In my previous post, I wrote about our recent Thanksgiving adventure to Costa Rica! On this post, I will talk about the second part of our trip; staying at Cala Luna Boutique Hotel and Villas, Surfing at Langosta Beach, and our quick stay in South Beach, Miami, Florida.
CALA LUNA BOUTIQUE HOTEL & VILLAS
We were in awe over the monkeys. Shortly after we arrived at the hotel, we heard the monkeys calling up in the trees!! We ran over by the pool area and saw a family of monkeys; babies (so small and cute, medium sized ones, and then daddy calling from way up high!) It was so cool to watch them swing from tree to tree and use their long tails to hang down and grab flowers!
BEACHES AT CALA LUNA
The beach surface at Cala Luna is great for exploring, but swimming is best to the left and right for a sandy surface. The volcanic rock is beautiful to look at and fun to walk on with water shoes! It was so spectacular to see the true high and low tides as the rocks were hidden at different tides of the day! The kids could have walked for hours during sunset, it was so fun to watch them walk together and navigate the rugged terrain looking out for each other, makes a momma’s heart happy!! Around lunch time the tide starts to come in and Ryan and the kids had a blast chases the big splashes up and down the shoreline!! I love truly exploring nature as a family, stepping away from our material/digital world and getting out into the natural beauty that God created, so cool!
We originally had planned to use one of the many surfing outfits in town for our surfing adventure, but as we were walking from town to our hotel we came across Lagosta Beach Club. They offered surf boards $10/2 hours. This is just a rental so would not work if you were needing lessons. Lucky for me, my people know how to surf! (I was happy taking pictures!) The waves were perfect for an afternoon of fun! This kids did an awesome job of learning to watch the waves, paddle their arms, jump up, ride the waves, crash, then do it all over again! Ryan was so awesome continuously putting them back on their boards!! He was rewarded with a little surfing time of his own, my heart explodes when I look at the picture of Evian and him surfing together!!
EATING IN TAMARINDO
Lunch at LongBoards BBQ! Great restaurant for an assortment of barbeque and tacos! The chips and salsa were great, too! Manager is a cool young guy from South Carolina. Definitely a must for a yummy lunch!
Dinner at Pizzeria La Baula. Fresh, fresh, fresh!!!! We had three different pizzas off the menu and they were all fabulous. Cool open air place, great for families!
Bamboo Sushi Club was perfect for amazing sushi and live music. Neat place nestled in the lush green, felt like we were sitting on someone’s back patio! Excellent surface and fresh food!
After a wonderful time in Coasta Rica we flew to Miami, Florida and stayed the night in South Beach! A fun way to end an amazing trip!
SOUTH BEACH, MIAMI
Walking around the pedestrian only street full of shops and restaurants on Saturday night was a fun experience. The store fronts decorated for Christmas and palm trees covered in Christmas lights was very festive! Evian loved all the shops full of makeup, perfume, and all the girly stores! While Miles couldn’t get enough of all the cool shoes and athletic stores. We enjoyed watching street entertainers and experiencing the nightlife of South Beach!
The location of this hotel was perfect for walking distance to experience the night life of South Beach, relax by the pool, run or walk on the boardwalk, and sit & enjoy the cozy restaurant! Bikes are available to rent to ride around, cabanas by the pool would be a lot of fun in the summer, and I think I could sit and drink endless cups of coffee on this breakfast table! This was a great way to end our trip!
